To Iyo And The East

An exchange students journey from America to Japan.

Hello

Hello. This will be my travel-log for Japan. For now, I will update sparingly only on matters concerning Japan, Matsuyama, and my exchange. I would, however, like to tell you about how I got to this point, and about the wonderful city that I am going to. And I will. But it happens to be finals week, so I am a bit short on time. Stay tuned for updates.

  2. hi marge;
    I didn’t know that much japanese before I came here, just basic stuff. When I arrived I was actually very surprised to see how much english was used on signs and such. you should be fine and your japanese will improve while you are here.
    Matsuyama is great. I’m not a fan of living in big cities anymore, so I’m glad to not be in Osaka or tokyo or anything. People here call matsuyama “countryside” but it is still a very urban area…there isn’t much nature inside the city. Get out and see a lot of Shikoku and Kyushu if you can. They are wonderful.
    I came to japan because that is where my wife is from (she’s from Shikoku, Tokushima). It’s been amazing so far…well, most of it. haha. when will you be here? We are moving next month and I might have a bike to give you if you need it.
